A pharmacist can assess symptoms, suggest self-care and, where the NHS Pharmacy First criteria are met, offer treatment. If you need other care, they can help you find the right service.
Seven conditions covered
| Condition | Age range |
|---|---|
| Earache | Ages 1–17 |
| Sore throat | Ages 5 and over |
| Sinusitis | Ages 12 and over |
| Infected insect bites | Ages 1 and over |
| Impetigo | Ages 1 and over |
| Shingles | Ages 18 and over |
| Uncomplicated urinary tract infection | Women aged 16–64 |
These age ranges are a starting point. Further clinical criteria apply. If you are outside these groups, we can still offer general advice.
Antibiotics are not always needed. If a medicine is supplied under the NHS service, normal prescription charges apply unless you are exempt.
